Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton outrun their party fellows in the race for the US presidency in terms of popularity, a survey showed.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — US presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are the most popular among contenders for the office, Gravis Marketing National Poll revealed on Saturday.

The survey of random 1,535 registered voters across the United States was conducted by the nonpartisan research firm regarding the upcoming presidential election.

Thirty percent of voters would choose Trump over other 2016 Republican presidential candidates, while Clinton is a front-runner for the Democratic Party with some fifty-five percent of voters nationwide, according to the poll.

The survey also showed that fifty-two percent of voters disapproved of the incumbent US President Barack Obama’s performance.

New Hampshire is the first state to hold primary elections for Republican and Democrat presidential candidates. Its outcome plays a major role in determining the selection of the candidates for the two major parties.

The 2016 primary will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2016.
