WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Washington, DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department responders have arrived to the US Capitol building after a driver struck the South Barricade, US Senate Parking Operations said via Twitter on Friday.
Due to police activity, the South Barricade of the U.S. Capitol Building is closed until further notice. Please avoid the area.

The driver, who did not enter the secure perimeter, is currently in custody, according to local media reports.
The US Capitol building is the seat of the legislative branch of the US government known as Congress.
The police activity at the South Barricade of the U.S. Capitol Building has concluded. The barricade is now open for normal operations.
