Hold The Oysters: Deadly Flesh Eating Bacteria Appears in Florida Waters
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Wednesday, the Louisiana Department of Health and hospitals officials announced that that Naegleria fowleri, an amoeba able to infiltrate brain tissues and cause a potentially lethal infection, had been detected in two of the region's seven water sites.

The chlorine burn in St. Bernard is expected to last for 60 days to eliminate all remaining amoeba in the water, the channel said.

Other five water sites tested negative, according to WDSU.

In 2013, an amoeba infection in St. Bernard Parish's water caused death of a 4-year-old boy, prompting local authorities to conduct water tests.
