Military Plane Goes off San Diego Runway Into Pacific
22:37 GMT 22.05.2015 (Updated: 10:14 GMT 06.08.2022) A US military plane overshot the runway at Naval Air Station North Island, plunging into San Diego Bay, according to officials.
A Navy pilot was reportedly trying to land during training on Friday. Ejecting before the plane hit the shallow water, the pilot was rescued by a civilian boater and taken to the hospital.
Navy spokesman Kevin Dixon said authorities are still assessing the situation. There is not yet word on the pilot’s condition.
