MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Four black New York State parole officers have filed a civil lawsuit against white police officers, alleging that they were racially profiled, the CNN reported Thursday.
In April 2014, four parole officers were stopped on the side of the road by white police officers who had their weapons drawn.
Although the parole officers were all wearing special bullet-proof vests and gold badges, they were still instructed to step out of their vehicle, and approached “in a threatening manner with [the white police officer's] hand held on the butt of his gun,” according to court documents.
The parole officers’ attorney said that all four plaintiffs have been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder following the incident.
In response to the allegations, the white police officers have claimed they were responding to a 911 call, which warned that four individuals with bullet proof vests on were traveling in an unmarked car.
In recent months, the United States has been hit by a wave of protests over police brutality and racism, after a series of incidents involving white police officers using excessive force against black people.
