MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Saturday, a woman flagged down a driver on a road in northern Florida, saying she had been abducted and subjected to beating and rape. The police identified her as a person who had been reported missing March 5, the statement released on Monday reads.
The woman told detectives she had been kidnapped by three men on March 3, who then took her to a house in the area where the motorist found her. The kidnappers had also stolen the car the woman was using.
Local police located the stolen vehicle and detained three men later that day. Following their interrogation, the detectives arrested James Lauvalle Harris, 20, who was identified as one of the abductors.
Harris is suspected of kidnapping and sexual abuse, among other felonies. He was placed in detention with a bond totalling $325,000, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The authorities also pledged additional arrests in the investigation.
