A New Jersey woman is accusing a police officer of forcing her to have sex to avoid an arrest, and she’s suing the local police department.

Shakera Brown claims Bridgeton Police officer Braheme Days approached her outside of a pharmacy in January of 2014 and told her she fit the description of a shoplifter police were looking for in the area.

According to the lawsuit, Days then told Brown, “There are two ways we can handle this. I can take you to jail, or we can handle this in an adult manner.”

Brown alleges that over the course of a year, Day would call her to set up meetings to have sex. Brown filed the lawsuit on Feb. 27.

Bridgeton Police Capt. Michael Gaimar told the South Jersey Times that he could not comment on pending litigation.

Officer Days is already on administrative leave for fatally shooting a motorist during a traffic stop in December.

Jerame Reid was pulled over by Days for running a stop sign and he was told to step out of his car. He did so with his hands up and was shot. Days said he thought Reid was reaching for a gun. Police found a handgun belonging to Reid and the county prosecutor is investigating that case.
