MOSCOW, December 21 (Sputnik) — A police officer in California shot and killed a 17-year-old teenager who attacked him with a machete.

As the channel Fox News reports, referring to the police captain Humboldt Adam Jager, a police officer saw a teenager hit a telephone pole, and came up to the young man.  In response, the teenager attacked the law enforcer with a machete.

According to Jaeger, a police officer struck a blow aside with his left hand and shot the offender. The officer locked himself in his patrol car and called for reinforcement. Another policeman, who arrived later, found a teenager lying on the ground naked; soon after the young man died.

The policeman who shot him was hospitalized with injuries to his hands and face.
