WASHINGTON, October 29 (RIA Novosti) – The investigation into the reasons of the Cygnus spaceship explosion during the launch at the US Wallops Flight Facility can take about a year, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) spokesperson Jay Bolden told RIA Novosti.
"Investigation will take up to 6 month to a year," Bolden said Tuesday night.
NASA spokesperson also noted that there is "good thing about international cooperation, we can count on our partners".
The Antares rocket with the Cygnus spacecraft was supposed to launch Tuesday from the Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia to deliver more than 2 tons of cargo to the International Space Station (ISS).
The unmanned rocket, however, exploded six seconds after the liftoff.
The cargo onboard the Cygnus included science experiments equipment and provisions for the crew.
"The impact on the crew is minimal, they have enough supply," Bolden commented.
According to NASA's earlier statement, no one has been injured as a result of catastrophe.
The reasons behind the explosion remain unknown.
