"We are disappointed with the Swiss court’s decision on appeals of Isinbayeva and Shubenkov. We waited for this decision, we hoped [for a positive outcome]," Zhukov told journalists.
In 2015, the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) Independent Commission issued a report accusing Russia of numerous breaches of global anti-doping regulations, which led to Russia’s suspension from the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
In July, IAAF banned all Russian athletes from taking part in international competitions including the Rio Olympics, making an exception for long jumper Darya Klishina, who trains in the United States.
Russian runner Shubenkov and pole vaulter Isinbaeva filed appeals against the CAS ruling which upheld the IAAF decision.
