The Russian national team will compete under a Russian flag and in Russian uniform next month, Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) President Alexander Zhukov said in welcoming the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) decision not to ban the national team from the upcoming Rio Summer Games.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The ROC approved earlier in the day the provisionally-named Anti-Doping Commission, which its chair Vitaly Smirnov said would include members of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the IOC and heads of international sporting federations.

"The decision on Russian athletes was taken by IOC members and I think that common sense has prevailed, [as well as] a sober approach and a desire to preserve the Olympic movement," Zhukov told reporters.

"The Russian team will have a Russian flag, a Russian uniform, and a Russian crew," he underscored.
