MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova and the International Tennis Federation have agreed to defer the Court of Arbitration for Sport decision on her case until September, the court said Monday.

"Due  to  the  parties  requiring  additional  time  to complete and respond to their respective evidentiary submissions, and several scheduling conflicts, the parties have agreed not to expedite the appeal. A decision is expected to be issued by 19 September 2016," the court said in a press statement.

Sharapova, 29, was suspended in March after she admitted she had tested positive for meldonium, which is a metabolic modulator included in the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) Prohibited List, at the Australian Open in January. The ITF announced her suspension for two years.

Maria Sharapova lodged her appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
