France defeated Iceland with the score 5:2 in the quarterfinals of UEFA Euro 2016 championship and advanced into the semi-final stage of the tournament.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — French Olivier Giroud scored the first goal at the 12th minute of the match at the Stade de France. At the 19th minute, France doubled their lead as Paul Pogba scored.

In the end of the first half, French players Dimitri Payet and Antoine Griezmann scored at the 43th and the 45th minutes accordingly.

Iceland's Kolbeinn Sigthorsson scored a goal at the 56th minute of the match, however, three minutes after, it was followed by France's fifth goal by Olivier Giroud.

At the 84th minute of the game, Iceland's Birkir Bjarnason scored a goal.

On July 7, the French national football team will play in Marseille with Germany, which defeated Italy with score 6:5 on penalties on Saturday.

Earlier this week, Portugal and Wales came through to the semi-finals of the UEFA Euro 2016 championship.
