Mutko: Film on Doping in Russia Prepared Ahead of IAAF Council Meeting
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian Sport Ministry is extremely disappointed by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) decision to uphold the suspension of Russian athletes from taking part in international competitions, the ministry said in statement on Friday.

"The Russian Ministry of Sport has announced that it is extremely disappointed by this move. The outcome of the IAAF Council Meeting has created unprecedented situation [where] Russian athletes are unable to participate in the 2016 Olympic Games," the statement said.

The ministry stressed that dream of many Russian athletes had been destroyed due to inappropriate behavior of some individual athletes and coaches.

"The Russian side did everything possible to regain international society's trust in Russian athletes," the ministry noted.

The ministry stressed that the Russian athletes had been tested by the British anti-doping agency (UKAD), and in addition to standard requirements, every Russian athlete was undergoing three further tests.

Earlier on Friday, IAAF officially announced the decision to uphold the Russian Athletics Federation's ban for IAAF membership. Following the announcement, All-Russian Athletic Federation's (ARAF) Secretary General Mikhail Butov said he was considering appealing the decision.
