“The Russian side reaffirmed its full openness for cooperation with the International Olympic Committee and the World Anti-Doping Agency to combat doping in the professional sport. It has been noted that this problem, unfortunately, has acquired a global dimension and can be resolved only through the constructive engagement of all parties of interest to rule out any possibility of punishing athletes who have never used fraudulent methods to achieve victory,” the statement said.
Earlier this month, US New York Times alleged that dozens of Russian athletes, including at least 15 medal winners and the entire women’s hockey team, had been using doping throughout the Sochi Olympics 2014. WADA expressed its commitment to investigate these allegations.
