KRASNODAR (Sputnik) — Russia did not back the Football Federation of Kosovo (FFK)’s bid to join the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) but recognizes the result of the vote, Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko told R-Sport Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, the UEFA Congress, the European football’s supreme controlling body, voted 28-24 to allow FFK to join the association. Two votes were voided.
"Russia did not back this decision but the European football is all about democracy. The decision was made by a majority and has to be enacted," Mutko said.
