Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said that as many as 16 objects have already been prepared in Russia ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — As many as 16 objects have already been prepared in Russia ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament, Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said.

"Within the framework of the program 16 objects are already ready," Mutko told R-Sport.

According to the minister, these objects include airport train terminals, hotels and stadiums in cities across Russia which will be hosting the event.

"Accordingly, 181 objects are underway. They include 10 stadiums and 62 football fields which will be used at the bases of the participating teams," Mutko added.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup, awarded to Russia in 2010, will be held from June 14 to July 15 in 11 Russian cities, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan and Sochi.
