The World Anti-Doping Agency's Independent Commission appears biased against Russia, and Moscow is noting an attempt to impose collective punishment in the world of sports, Russia's Foreign Ministry said Thursday.

WADA Double-Standards: Call for Russia’s Olympic Ban Isn’t ‘Random Act’
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Canada-based anti-doping authority WADA presented a report on Monday that accused Russia of violating global anti-doping codes and recommended the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) suspend it from international athletics championships, including the 2016 Olympics.

Following the publication, WADA temporarily removed its accreditation of the Moscow-based Antidoping Center.

"As for the special doping commission's position in regard to Russian athletes, we believe that it looks quite biased," ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told reporters.

Zakharova accused sports authorities of ignoring Russia’s stance on the issue, and said WADA’s sources looked very dubious.

"We note an attempt to introduce the principle of collective punishment to the sports sphere," she added.

The scandal prompted Russian President Vladimir Putin to order an internal Sports Ministry investigation into the alleged widespread abuse of doping among Russian athletes.
