According to R-Sport report, Russia’s Maria Sharapova was unable to defend her title at the French Open, losing to the Czech Republic’s Lucie Safarova.

Sharapova Beats Ivanovic in Brisbane Final
MOSCOW (Sputnik) Russia’s Maria Sharapova was unable to defend her title at the French Open, losing to the Czech Republic’s Lucie Safarova, R-Sport reported on Monday.

Sharapova, seeded number two, was defeated by Safarova, seeded number 13, at 6:7 (3:7), 4:6 in two sets.

Safarova’s opponent in the quarterfinals will be Spain’s Garbiñe Muguruza, seeded number 21.
