Cristiano Ronaldo Wins 2014 FIFA Ballon d'Or
MOSCOW, January 28 (Sputnik) — Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been given a two-match ban by the Royal Spanish Football Federation following his red card for Real Madrid against Cordoba, Eurosport reported Wednesday.

Ronaldo will miss home games against Real Sociedad (on January 31) and Sevilla (on February 4). He will be available for the derby against Atletico Madrid on February 7.

The Ballon d’Or winner was show a red card for kicking Cordoba’s defender Edimar during a game Real won 2-1.

The 29-year-old forward lost his temper in the closing stages of the game on January 24 after failing to make an impact. He kicked and raised hand to strike Edimar in the face. Referee Alejandro Hernandez had no choice but to send Ronaldo off the pitch.

Ronaldo initially appeared being unrepentant on the incident, but later he apologized posting a message on his Twitter page: "I apologize to everyone and especially Edimar for my impulsive behavior in today’s game."

Edimar accepted the apology saying he is not angry with Ronaldo.

Ronaldo has been in perfect form for Real in 2014-15, scoring 36 goals in 31 matches in all competitions.
