Anton Shipulin, Friday’s sprint winner, missed two targets from four shootings and crossed the finish line in 31 minutes, 1.1 seconds.

MOSCOW, December 20 (Sputnik) — Anton Shipulin of Russia finished second in the men’s 12.5 kilometer pursuit race on Saturday during the third leg of the 2014 Biathlon World Cup in Pokljuka, Slovenia.

Shipulin, Friday’s sprint winner, missed two targets from four shootings and crossed the finish line in 31 minutes, 1.1 seconds.

The Russian athlete was leapfrogged by Emil Hegle Svendsen of Norway. Svendsen shot clean for the second day in a row and finished in 30 minutes, 43.3 seconds.

Martin Fourcade of France was third, 59.9 seconds back of Svendsen. The Norwegian now leads the tournament with 311 points, four ahead of Fourcade.

Timofey Lapshin, another Russian biathlete, finished sixth with one missed target, 1 minutes, 21.6 seconds back of the winner.
