MOSCOW, December 3 (Sputnik) — Renowned Canadian ice hockey player Jean Beliveau, who won the Stanley Cup 10 times with the Montreal Canadiens, has died at the age of 83, the official NHL website reported on Wednesday.

Beliveau played 20 seasons with Montreal, from 1951 to 1971. He played 1,287 games for the club, scoring 586 goals and 809 assists.

Beliveau won the Hart Memorial Trophy twice, which is awarded to the "player judged most valuable to his team" in the National Hockey League. He also won the Conn Smythe Trophy, as the player judged most valuable to his team during the NHL’s Stanley Cup playoffs and an Art Ross Memorial Trophy, awarded to the NHL player who leads the league in scoring at the end of the regular season.

In 1972, Beliveau was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
