U.S Open Andy Murray was stunned by sixth seed Milos Raonic in a three-set thriller in the semifinal of the Japan Open on Saturday.

The 21-year-old Canadian lost the second set on a tie break after taking the first with surprising ease. But he surged back in the decider for a 6-3, (5)6-7, 7-6(4) victory, knocking out the defending champion in the process.

Raonic will face home favorite Kei Nishikori in Sunday's final.

Eighth seed Nishikori, in contrast, took just one hour to knock out Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus.

The local star converted four of his six break points to secure a 6-2, 6-2 win.

This will be the first encounter between Nishikori and Raonic on the ATP tour.

Neither has won such a big event. The prize money is $1.3 million.
