Russian police on Thursday issued a public order reminder ahead of a weekend of potentially explosive Premier League matches.

Last week Dynamo Moscow were awarded a 3-0 win by the FA's disciplinary committee after their Russian Cup match with Torpedo Moscow was called off due to firecrackers being thrown onto the pitch.

Dozens were arrested in scuffles between fans leading up to that match, leading the authorities to try to calm tensions before they flare up this weekend.

"It is forbidden to bring and use the pyrotechnics at the stadiums, to damage stadium’s property, to come to the football pitch and participate in other activities that could lead to negative consequences for the club and for ordinary spectators," an Interior Ministry statement said.

The ministry "calls upon supporters to maintain public order," the statement said.

Police are through to be especially concerned with two Sunday games: The Moscow derby between Spartak and CSKA, and Dynamo's match against league leaders Anzhi Makhachkala.

Anzhi players have been subjected to fan attacks before, with a supporter splashing liquid, reportedly urine, on winger Mbark Boussoufa in August and defenders Christopher Samba and Roberto Carlos both being the victims of incidents involving bananas earlier.

The ministry has also asked the management of the teams to undertake preventive work with the fan community.
