St. Louis Blues wing Vladimir Tarasenko is in negotiations on a lockout return to the KHL with his former team SKA St. Petersburg, the young Russian’s agent Alexei Dementiev told R-Sport on Sunday.

Tarasenko was a first-round draft pick for the Blues in 2010 and moved to St. Louis in the summer after racking up 47 points in 54 games last season in the KHL.

The deadline for averting a lockout passed Saturday after the NHL and the players’ association failed to agree terms on a new collective contract.

“Currently, it’s all at the stage of discussions and there’s no information yet,” Dementiev said, adding that league rules prevented Tarasenko signing for any KHL team other than SKA.

“Negotiations are taking place with SKA, but we don’t have the right to reach an agreement with anyone else but them.”

Tarasenko is the son of hockey star Andrei Tarasenko, who played for Russia at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer and was head coach at KHL team Sibir Novosibirsk when his son made his debut there.
