Russian Olympic medal-winning swimmer Nikita Lobintsev is to attend a training camp in the United Statesrun by coach Dave Salo, Lobintsev told R-Sport Saturday.

Lobintsev, 23, claimed bronze in the 4x100 meters freestyle relay at the London Olympic Games and won double gold at the 2010 European championships in the 4x100 meters and 4x200 meters freestyle relays.

“I’ve decided to join a training camp in the United States under the guidance of famous coach Dave Salo,” Lobintsev said.

“The date hasn’t been settled yet, and this is not a move to America, but a regular training camp, the same as we had in Spain, France or Moscow.”

Salo, who was on the coaching staff for the U.S. Olympic women's swim team at London 2012, trains the University of Southern California men’s and women’s swimming teams and has a record of success with future Olympic stars.

He coached six-time Olympic medalist Rebecca Soni of the United States and Russian swimmer Yulia Yefimova, who won the bronze medal in the women’s 200 meters breaststroke at the London Olympics.
