MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The blaze affected 17 cisterns, each containing around 900 cubic meters of fuel at the BRSM-Nafta oil depot on Monday.
"We can currently see a big cloud of smog as well as heavy fire. Several buses with rescuers are already on their way. However, [the State Emergency Service of Ukraine] does not comment the situation," the 112 TV channel said.
Several causes of the fire, including a technical failure during work with petroleum products, are being considered by the investigation team. On Friday, the emergency service announced that the fire at the depot located about 30 kilometers (19 miles) southwest of Kiev had been totally extinguished.
"As of 11:50 [a.m. local time, 8:50 GMT] June 13, a depressurization of a 900-cubic meter tank took place, resulting in a fuel leak followed by further burning and torch burning of a nearby reservoir of 900 cubic meter capacity," the service said.
Some 24 rescuers are deployed at the site of the blaze, according to the service.
BRSM-Nafta Ltd. is a Kiev-based company that supplies gasoline and diesel in Ukraine.
