MOSCOW, September 4 (RIA Novosti) — During an excavation in the Gobi desert, a team of Mongolian and American archeologists have made a number of new finds, including dinosaur eggs, Scientific American reports.

The Gobi stretches across 1,300,000 square kilometers in Central Asia and is one of the most desolate places on Earth. Its climate is extremely harsh: it is bitterly cold and windy during the winter, and the summer can be very hot. While this region is remote, it often attracts the attention of researchers: it is considered a paradise for paleontologists. While its constant winds deter all but the most undaunted travelers, they cause erosion, leaving the remains of ancient animals exposed on the surface.

Nearly-complete dinosaur skeletons can often be found there.

During the latest series of research expeditions, sponsored by the Mongolian Academy of Sciences and the American Museum of Natural History, scientists have been able to find dinosaur eggs and other dinosaur fossils.
