MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Mooring trials for the world's first floating nuclear power plant unit, Akademik Lomonosov, have begun at the Baltic Shipyard in Russia's St. Petersburg, Rosenergoatom said Friday.

The goal of the trials is to assess the compliance of the floating unit's systems and equipment with design specifications. The tests mark the start of the final stage of construction.
