US Welcomes India’s Position Against Ballistic Missile Proliferation
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The MTCR is a voluntary association of 34 countries, which declare their commitment to non-proliferation of unmanned delivery systems capable of delivering weapons of mass destruction. The agreement regulates the transfer of technologies that can be used to build nuclear-capable missiles.

"We expect the membership of MTCR to be announced on June 7 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Washington. India has been a unilateral adherent of MTCR since 2008 and have more than fulfilled all our commitments including signing of Hague missile code," a high ranking governmental source told the Hindustan Times newspaper.

According to the media outlet, this move will allow India to increase its capability to export and import missile technologies in accordance with non-proliferation rules.

On June 1, India subscribed to the Hague Code of Conduct against Ballistic Missile Proliferation, meant to supplement the MTCR.
