Airbus Helicopters is suspending commercial passenger flights of the same type of helicopters as the one that crashed off Norway’s western shore on Friday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – On Friday, an H225 helicopter traveling from a North Sea oil platform crashed off the coast of Norway near Turoey outside Bergen. Eleven people were killed and two remain missing, according to Airbus.

The causes of the accident are under investigation.

"Under these tragic circumstances, and until these elements [results of inquiry related to aircraft’s background] are available, we are allied with the decision taken to put all commercial EC225LP passenger flights on hold," Airbus Helicopters said in a Friday statement.

The Norwegian Civil Aviation authority said it was banning helicopters of the type from flying in Norway or near Norwegian offshore facilities because of the Friday accident.
