Wearable technology and apps are making moves in the world of mental health and well-being; whether it's collecting sleep data, counting steps or preventing paranoid thoughts, now a team of researchers have developed a gel to replicate muscles and tendons taking the human body another step towards a cyborg future.

A new form of hydro-gel, a water based polymer that can bend and twist without breaking or tearing has been developed to work inside the human body.

Objects in the past have been stiff pieces of silicon and plastic and are often rejected by the body for not working well enough inside.

However the hydro-gel, developed by a team of researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology could go some way in preventing the body from rejecting the material as a foreign object because it replicates muscles and tendons more authentically.

The gel could also go even further in putting human beings into the category of cyborgs, hypothetical people with abilities and mechanical features that extend far beyond that of human limitations.

But it looks like the world will have to wait — the gel is yet to be approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
