China's first electric plane has successfully completed low-temperature flight tests and is ready for mass production, local media reported.

BEIJING (Sputnik) — The two-seat RX1E, designed by Liaoning Ruixiang General Aviation Co Ltd, has a maximum speed of 74.5 miles per hour and is capable of flying for up to 60 minutes after 90 minutes of charging, the China Daily newspaper reported Thursday.

The RX1E can be used for pilot training, sightseeing and aerial photography, the media outlet said.

The manufacturer has already built four RX1E planes and expects to construct another 20 in 2016, according to the newspaper.

According to other media reports, the plane costs about $150,000.
