The 2016 International Air Transport Association (IATA) summit will be held in Dublin, Ireland on June 1-2, the IATA Board of Governors announced on Tuesday during the closing conference of this year’s meeting in Miami, Florida.

MIAMI (Sputnik) — Ireland flag carrier Aer Lingus will host the 2016 IATA summit.

“We look forward to welcoming you to our capital city and providing you with the opportunity to enjoy the hospitality for which Dublin is renowned], “ Aer Lingus CEO Stephen Kavanagh said on Tuesday. “Delegates will find a warm welcome, vibrant city and a great venue for their annual general meeting.”

The 2015 summit in Miami on June 7-9 hosted some 1,000 senior executives of the world’s major airlines. The executives addressed a host of topics affecting the airline industry, including pressing challenges such as air transportation security and air cargo revival.

Featured speakers in Miami included Malaysia Airlines’ CEO Christoph Mueller, Lufthansa’s CEO Carsten Spohr, Air Canada’s CEO Calin Rovinescu and Airbus’ CEO Fabrice Bregier.

US Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx and Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas also participated in the summit.

The IATA is a global association of the world’s airlines headquartered in Canada. It represents some 260 airlines comprising 83 percent of global air traffic.
