Ariane-5 with Two Satellites Blasts Off from Guiana

The Ariane-5 carrier rocket with a dual-satellite payload was launched on Sunday from the Kourou space center in French Guiana.

MOSCOW, November 11 (RIA Novosti) - The Ariane-5 carrier rocket with a dual-satellite payload was launched on Sunday from the Kourou space center in French Guiana.

The initial launch was scheduled for Friday, but was postponed due to poor weather conditions. The spacecraft blasted off on Sunday at 1:05 Moscow time (21:05 GMT Saturday).

The carrier rocket is intended to put into orbit Europe’s Eutelsat 21B telecommunications satellite that will be providing services for customers in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Central Asia.

The Ariane-5 will also put into orbit Brazil’s Star One C3 telecommunications satellite that will be used for services in Brazil and other countries in Latin America.
