Number of People Killed in Kerch College Attack Rises to 20

Deputy head of Kerch city administration said that the death toll after the deadly attack on a college in the city in Russia's Crimea has risen to 20.

The number of people killed in the deadly attack on a college in the city of Kerch in Crimea has risen up to 20, deputy head of Kerch city administration Dilyaver Melgaziyev said.

The Russian Healthcare Ministry's data, revealed on Wednesday, said the number of those deceased was 19.

"A total of 20 people died… The number of people has increased by one… Seventeen of them have been identified," Melgaziev said.

The official also said that 17 people who had been killed in the college attack were identified. He also added that 8 out of 10 severely wounded were also identified.

"Eight [of those who had sustained severe injuries] have been identified, according to the information that I have. There is currently no information on two girls," the official added.

"There are 15 students among those killed, including six minors and nine people aged 20-21. Five adults are the employees of the college. There is a total of 20 people [killed]," Melgaziev also said.

Later,  Russian Healthcare Minister Veronika Skvortsova confirmed that 44 people remain in hospital, 34 of them in moderately severe condition, 7 severe and 3 critical. She also added that those wounded in critical condition stabilized overnight, 12 people remain in intensive care.

Skvortsova declared that the evacuation of those wounded in the college massacre in Kerch to hospitals located in other cities is underway.

"A part [of those injured], six people, were transported to Simferopol yesterday. Now, six more [are being transported] to Simferopol. Four people with minor wounds are in Temryuk. Two people with minor wounds were transported to Krasnodar, and six more people are being taken there now," she said.

Earlier, Russian Healthcare Minister said that the majority of those injured in the attack were received by a Kerch hospital with wounds to their limbs, while six of those injured have been transported to the city of Simferopol.
