Russian Prosecutor Lists McCain's Int'l Republican Institute as Undesirable

The Russian Prosecutor General's office said Thursday it had listed the International Republican Institute, chaired by US Senator John McCain, as an organization engaged in activities undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the statement, the organizations' activities pose a threat to Russia's security and the foundations of the country's constitutional system.

"After an assessment of received information, the Prosecutor General's office has made the decision to list two foreign non-governmental organizations as undesirable: the International Republican Institute and the Media Development Investment Fund," the prosecution's press service said in a statement.
