MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian Cabinet officials should concentrate the limited budget resources to set out specific targets among priority areas and optimize costs, President Vladimir Putin said in closing remarks at the inaugural Council for Strategic Development and Priority Projects session Wednesday.
"What is the purpose of our entire work which we gathered here to discuss? The idea is to concentrate resources on the most important growth areas, which gives rise to the need to detail the tasks of this growth," Putin said.
Underscoring the occasionally ineffective use of state resources, Putin drew attention to optimizing costs toward priority areas.
"And the most important thing is improving governance both in sectors and in the economy as a whole, as well as in resources. This is a key task for which we have created this structure," he stressed.
Echoing Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev’s earlier remarks, the head of state called for "clear and precise instead of dim and unintelligible" priority areas with allocated responsibility.
