Number of People Following Rossiya Segodnya on Social Media Passes 7Mln

The number of people following the Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency on social media has exceeded seven million, its press office said Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The agency is a leader among news agencies in Russia. It is present on all major social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and the local social network VK (originally VKontakte).

"We are glad that more and more people choose to get updates on events through our social media pages," Kirill Kiryanov, the editor-in-chief of the ria.ru website, which is part of Rossiya Segodnya, said.

Rossiya Segodnya is an international media group, whose mission is to cover world events in a prompt, balanced and unbiased manner, and provide alternative views on global issues.

The group combines radio broadcasts and newswires in English, Russian, Spanish, Arabic and Chinese, with news websites in dozens of languages, also producing and distributing photo and video content and infographics, information products on social media, and content for mobile apps.
