MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia's not-for-profit Skolkovo Foundation and the country's investment and production holding Bakulin Motors Group on Monday signed an agreement on establishing a center for research and development to design and test unmanned vehicles for the urban environment.
Medvedev also took part in a demonstration of unmanned modules for means of transportation, applicable for further use not only in passenger transportation but also in freight traffic activities as well. The modules are currently being tested but already in use on the territory of the innovation center as means of transportation.
A plant in the Vladimir Region of Russia is expected to deliver hardware for the modules, while Skolkovo is due to develop software for them.
The Skolkovo Innovation Center opened in 2010 is intended to lead Russia’s drive to diversify and modernize its economy and increase the country's output of high-tech products.
