US Plays 'World’s Prosecutor' in Doping Probe Against Russian Athletes
US media reported this in May, citing former director of the Russia-based anti-doping laboratory Grigory Rodchenkov, that dozens of Russian athletes at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, including at least 15 medal winners and the entire women's hockey team, were doping throughout the Games as part of a "state-run program." WADA has launched a probe into the claims.

Russia’s Investigative Committee opened an inquiry in May against several senior officials at the Russian Athletic Federation (RusAF) in connection with suspected abuse of office. Criminal cases against them were launched earlier in June.

On Friday, IAAF officially announced the decision to uphold the Russian Athletics Federation's ban for IAAF membership. Following the announcement, All-Russian Athletic Federation's (ARAF) Secretary General Mikhail Butov said he was considering appealing the decision.
