Russia's United Engine Corporation (UEC) aims to manufacture up to 50 latest PD-14 engines annually by 2023, the company's official spokesperson said Wednesday.

IRKUTSK (Russia) (Sputnik) — He added that the overall maintenance of the PD-14 is up to 17 percent cheaper compared to the similar engines produced by foreign companies.

"Manufacturing and investment programs presuppose reaching the production capacity of 20 units per year by 2020 and its gradual build-up to about 50 units a year by 2023," the spokesperson said.

These engines are planned to be used in the new Russian MC-21 mid-range airliners among others.

UEC is a subsidiary company of the United Industrial Corporation producing various engines including those for military and civil aviation.
