MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Built at the site of a major aviation industry test site, the Zhukovsky airfield, Ramenskoye International joined the Moscow Aviation Hub with Europe’s longest 3.4-mile runway.
"Chairman of the Government will be provided with the airport development plan and a new passenger terminal," the announcement of Medvedev's visit to Ramenskoye said.
The airport aims to become a major center for experimental, government and civil aviation, according to Ramenskoye’s website.
The Ramport Aero international aviation holding company invested $27 million into the airport’s terminal with annual capacity of 4 million passengers, Russia’s Izvestia daily said.
The Russian government issued a decree in March ordering Ramenskoye to open for scheduled international flights.
