Among the activities and decisions of Russian President Vladimir Putin over the past year, Russians have chosen the country's Aerospace Forces operation in Syria and development of Crimea as the most successful, a poll revealed on Saturday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the survey carried out by the Russian Fund for Public Opinion, 8 percent of those interviewed said they find Russian operation in Syria most prominent undertaking in the Russian leader's work, 7 percent said it was the reunification with Crimea and the effort to develop the region.

A total of 5 percent consider social policy the most outstanding aspect of Putin's work, while another 5 percent admire the Russian leader's international policy and strong political position, the pollster said.

Assistance to other countries and failed social policy were named among the most unsuccessful aspects of Putin's activity over the past year by 5 and 4 percent of those interviewed respectively.

Attitude to the president of 38 percent of Russians became more positive since he was first elected in 2000, while stance of 42 percent of the interviewed remained unchanged, the poll's results showed. The vast majority, 69 percent, noted Putin's work met their personal expectations, the poll emphasized.

The pollster conducted personal interviews with 1,500 people in 104 Russian localities on May 2.
