Kremlin Expresses Condolences Over Passenger Train Collision in Germany
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov offered assistance to Germany in the aftermath of a recent collision between two passenger trains, the ministry’s press service said Tuesday.

"In accordance with the agreement on mutual assistance in case of natural disasters or major accidents between the Russian and German governments, we inform that the Russian Emergencies Ministry is ready to provide practical assistance to our colleagues from the German Federal Republic," Puchkov said in a letter sent to the German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere.

He also expressed his condolences over the tragic deaths of the people in the accident.

Earlier in the day, two Meridian trains collided on a single-track section of the rail line near the town of Bad Aibling between Holzkirchen and Rosenheim in the state of Bavaria.

Nine people have been confirmed dead and more than 150 were injured, while two passengers are still missing, according to police.
