MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian President Vladimir Putin did not have a telephone conversation with British singer Elton John, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Tuesday.
"That is not true. There was no conversation," Peskov told reporters adding that the authenticity of the musician's message is doubtful due to a number of grammar mistakes in the text.
The spokesman pointed out that the presidential administration had not received any official request for a meeting from Elton John while reports on the Internet could not be verified.
At the same time, according to Peskov, the Russian leader has always "been and remains open to discuss any human rights issues, any questions, he is always ready to explain the real situation."
"Often, people simply do not have the exact knowledge of what is happening in our country and in fact are the victims of information exaltation," the spokesman said.
