The Iranian delegation will be massively represented during the MAKS-2015 Aviation and Space Show which will take place on August 25-30 in the city of Zhukovsky, outside Moscow, Shahram Vaghefinejad, executive director of Iran’s aeronautic company Asman-e Fanaravan, said in an interview with Sputnik Persian.

"The MAKS international air show can be considered a full-fledged successor of one of the world’s oldest air shows which was held in the Russian Empire since 1911. During the Soviet era, the exhibition was replaced with various Air Force exercises, and since 1993 it has been held in its actual format. First of all, this format is distinguished with the unprecedented level of organization and its prestigious status," Vaghefinejad explained.

MAKS is among the world’s leading air shows, to be included with the oldest, Le Bourget, near Paris, and the Dubai Airshow. In some respects, it even outperforms them. This is why the Iranian aerospace industry is highly interested in the MAKS show, the expert underscored.

During the first years after the USSR collapsed, Iran’s participation was limited. Since 2000, the country has sent its delegations of experts and businessmen to Zhukovsky, he said. Initially, the Iranian booth covered an area of 8-12 square meters, and now it is 150.

During the show, Iran will be represented both by state-owned aerospace companies and numerous private businesses, he added. Products by three brands will be presented at the MAKS-2015 – the Iranian National Space Agency, Aviko aircraft making company, and the Iranian association of air and space manufacturers.

Nearly 40 Iranian companies will present a wide range of products in several fields, including satellites, satellite carriers, mockup and prototypes of several airplanes and helicopters, a domestic-made navigation system as well as engines and parts for civil aviation, he pointed out.

This year’s MAKS is also going to be special for Iran due to wide possibilities which have emerged after a final agreement was reached over the Iranian nuclear program, Vaghefinejad underscored.

"The agreement opened way for us to cooperate both with Russian and other foreign companies. We are seriously considering the possibility of joint aviation and space production with Russia and the purchase of Russian-made equipment," he said.

The XII International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2015 will start on Tuesday in the Russian city of Zhukovsky with over 400,000 people expected to attend the venue during the six-day event. About 760 companies from 35 countries, are expected to participate in the air show
