Bread and Butter of Russian Food Embargo: What, When, Why and for How Long?
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin's decree on the destruction of embargoed food entered into force. Products imported into the Russian Federation in violation of the embargo can be destroyed in any manner approved by law and in compliance with environmental regulations.

Some Western nations, including the United States and the member states of the European Union, introduced several rounds of sanctions against Russia over its alleged involvement in the Ukrainian crisis, a claim Moscow has repeatedly denied.

Moscow responded by banning food imports from the countries that sanctioned it. A measure that was extended earlier this year.
