MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia may begin importing cheese and hatching eggs from Iran by mid-2015, a spokesman for Russia’s agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor said Monday.
Moscow and Tehran's agricultural cooperation has grown after Russia imposed a one-year ban on meat, dairy and other food products from the United States, the European Union and other allied countries in 2014.
“The probability that cheeses will be supplied is high,” Alexei Alexeyenko told RIA Novosti, adding that the deliveries could begin within the next few months.
Rosselkhoznadzor has previously informed that Russia was interested in importing various agricultural products from Iran.
In late February, Russia and Iran initialed veterinary certificates for the supply of Iranian eggs and meat products to Russia.
