Boris Nemtsov was shot and killed about midnight on Friday on the Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge near the Kremlin. According to investigators, the assassin fired six shots, killing Nemtsov on the spot.
Nemtsov’s female companion, Ukrainian model Anna Duritskaya, was not hurt.
According to the newspaper, the videos from the CCTV cameras were either blurred or missing altogether as some of them were temporarily shut off for repairs.
As appears from the available footage the murder happened around 23.30 just as Boris Nemtsov and his girlfriend were walking along the bridge away from Red Square.
The four bullets that hit the politician were reportedly manufactured back in 1986 and another two – in 1992. The murder weapon was either a Makarov pistol or a converted Izh gas pistol, the newspaper writes. The latter one is easier to get hold off, but is prone to misfires.
Investigators believe the assassin immediately got rid of the gun, apparently tossing it into the river.
